Norman SmartFold™ Roman-Style Shades
Enjoy the graceful folds of a Roman shade with the smooth operation of a roller shade. SmartFold™ by Norman brings together beautifully textured fabrics, tailored proportions and cordless or motorized controls for a distinctive addition to your windows.
Product Description
Exclusive to Norman, SmartFold™ brings thoughtful engineering to the familiar beauty of folded fabric. When lowered, its Roman-style folds create depth and dimension. When raised, the fabric rolls neatly behind the valance, reducing the stack across the top of the window and revealing more of your view.
A sheer backing adds another distinctive detail. Gently lift an individual fold by hand to reveal a softened view through the backing without raising the entire shade.
Each SmartFold™ is custom-made for its opening. Your choice of fabric, fold size, and valance shape defines the finished look, creating a tailored design that complements your windows and furnishings.
Colours and Fabrics
Express your style through fabric, texture and colour. SmartFold™ offers light-filtering and room-darkening selections from the Louise, Impressions and Moonlight collections, with soft whites, warm neutrals and deeper shades to complement your interior.

PrecisionLift™ Cordless Operation
PrecisionLift™ Cordless offers smooth manual adjustment without a dangling lift cord. Its clean appearance keeps the focus on the fabric and folds. SmartFold’s cordless design is Best for Kids certified.
AutoWand™ and Smart Motorization
AutoWand™ provides convenient motorized adjustment through a wand control.
For connected operation, choose Norman Smart Motorization. Operate your shades with a remote, smartphone or compatible voice assistant, and automate shade adjustments around your daily routine.
Light Control and Larger Windows
Create the atmosphere you prefer with light-filtering or room-darkening fabric. Light-filtering selections soften incoming sunlight, while room-darkening fabrics help create a darker setting. Fabric colour, mounting position and coverage around the window also influence the finished level of light control.
SmartFold™’s roller-based construction accommodates wider applications than traditional Roman shades. We will confirm the available dimensions for your selected fabric, fold size and operating system.
Cleaning and Fabric Care
Keep SmartFold™ fabric clean using dry methods only. Remove light dust with a dry duster or cloth, or gently vacuum using a handheld vacuum or soft brush attachment. To clear dust from inside the folds, use a hair dryer on a no-heat setting. Do not dampen or spot-clean the fabric with water, as water can damage it. Do not use over-the-counter cleaning products.
After installation, minor indentations near the roller or folds may soften if you leave the shade fully lowered for up to 48 hours. Lower the shade regularly to allow the fabric to relax and maintain its folds. If a fold appears flat, gently push its lower edge upward to restore fullness.
Do not lower the shade beyond its ordered height.
Custom Measurement and Installation
Every SmartFold™ shade is made for a specific window opening. Your final price depends on the dimensions, fabric, fold size, valance, lift system and installation requirements.
Our team will measure your windows, assess the mounting depth and clearance around handles and trim, and confirm the available combinations.
We will then arrange professional installation and demonstrate how to operate and care for your shades.
Manufacturer Information and Warranty
Norman’s limited lifetime warranty applies to manufacturing and material defects while the original purchaser owns the shades, subject to its terms and exclusions. Motorized components have five-year coverage, excluding batteries. Certain textile conditions have shorter coverage, and shipping, measurement, installation labour and trip charges are excluded.
