Product Description
Crafted from responsibly sourced hardwood, Normandy® shutters combine traditional woodworking techniques with thoughtful engineering. Lightweight Paulownia hardwood allows wider individual panels, creating more expansive views with fewer divisions across the window.
Norman’s Prescription Wood Conditioning® process prepares the hardwood for the humidity conditions where the shutters will be installed, helping reduce shrinking and swelling. Quarter-sawn louvers enhance stability and resistance to warping, while engineered stiles and mortise-and-tenon joints strengthen the panel structure.
Every shutter is custom-made for its opening. A choice of louver sizes, tilt controls, frames and specialty configurations lets you tailor the appearance, natural light and privacy to the way you enjoy each room.
Colours
Find a finish that complements your home’s individual style. Normandy® offers solid colours, natural wood stains, premium stained finishes and custom colour matching. Stained finishes showcase the hardwood’s texture and character. Solid whites, neutrals, and darker shades create a more uniform appearance that coordinates with your trim and furnishings.

InvisibleTilt® Control Options
Personalize the appearance and operation of your shutters with four manual control options:
- InvisibleTilt®: A concealed mechanism adjusts the louvers without a visible front tilt rod, creating clean lines across the panel.
- InvisibleTilt® with Split Tilt: Adjust the upper and lower louver sections independently to balance daylight and privacy.
- Standard Tilt: A traditional front tilt rod connects the louvers for coordinated adjustment.
- Offset Tilt: A front tilt rod positioned toward the side of the panel offers an alternative appearance.
Louver Sizes
Normandy® shutters are available with five louver sizes:
- 1⅞ inches
- 2½ inches
- 3 inches
- 3½ inches
- 4½ inches
Smaller louvers create a closely spaced, traditional appearance. Larger louvers offer wider openings between the slats for a more expansive view. Your window dimensions and available clearance help determine the right size.
Frame and Mounting Options
Complete your shutters with decorative Z and Deco frames, understated L frames, a hang strip or a direct-mount configuration. Inside- and outside-mount installations are available.
Your frame selection shapes the finished appearance of the shutters and their relationship to the window opening. Window depth, existing trim, handles and surrounding surfaces guide the appropriate profile and mounting method.
Specialty Shapes, Patio Doors and Skylights
Bring a coordinated shutter design to distinctive windows and wide openings. Normandy® offers custom configurations for specialty shapes, including round and triangular windows.
For patio doors and wide openings, Bi-fold 180™ shutters allow the panels to fold neatly away, opening up the view and providing access through the doorway. Motorized skylight shutters bring convenient louver control to hard-to-reach overhead windows.
Cleaning and Care
Gently remove dust with a clean, dry cloth, feather duster or vacuum fitted with a brush attachment. Clean the louvers in both their open and closed positions to reach each surface.
Do not immerse wood shutters in water or use abrasive chemical solvents. Norman does not recommend ultrasonic cleaning.
Custom Measurement and Installation
Every Normandy® shutter is made to fit a specific window opening. For an accurate quote, we review your window dimensions, panel configuration, finish, louver size, frame, control options and installation requirements.
Our manufacturer-approved installation team will measure your windows, guide your selections and arrange professional installation. We check panel clearance and access to window handles before finalizing the configuration.
Manufacturer Warranty
Norman’s lifetime warranty covers defects in materials or workmanship for as long as the original purchaser owns the product, subject to its exclusions. Some finishes and components have shorter coverage. Shipping, measurement and installation labour, and trip charges are excluded.
